Please check out my mindless ramblings whenever you feel like it. I'm sure once in a while you'll find some small dollop of information that will make the whole affair worth your time.
I'd like to start off today by asking if anyone can name these two pieces of cinema? I loved them as a child but have since forgotten their names.
The first is a movie about a boy genius who is always building exciting things. He makes a rocket bike that cruises down the railroad tracks and keeps him from being late to school early on in the movie. I believe that later on he makes a submarine type device that he uses to dive deep into a lake to maybe find a Loch Ness type creature. IT IS NOT FLIGHT OF THE NAVIGATOR, as many have suggested.
The second piece was a tv show in the 80's I believe. It had sort of a Twilight Zone kind of feel and I only remember one episode, though I watched it religiously. This episode was set in WWII. A group of bomber airmen were coming home from a mission in which their plane had been severely damaged. The landing gear was blown away or malfunctioning and there was an airman trapped in one of the gun turrets on the belly of the plane. As I remember it was an emotional performance where everyone on board knew the young man was going to perish when they made the emergency landing at the air base. However, in a twist ending the young man, who was an artist, took out his sketchbook and drew their plane with wheels. When the plane came in for a landing exaggerated cartoon wheels lowered from the bottom of the plane and they landed safely.
If any of my loyal blog followers know the answer to these quandaries I command you to tell me.
